Couple focuses efforts on needs of children

A Plymouth couple and a good friend have their sights set on a somewhat different target when it comes to disaster service in western North Carolina.

Joe and Patricia Hardison, along with Susan Barber, urge the community to help restore “a sliver of normalcy” for youngsters displaced in western North Carolina.

While acknowledging the destruction for all ages, the Hardisons say, “It has been laid upon our hearts to try to do something for the children affected by all the unimaginable devastation in Western North Carolina. Children in particular need a sliver of normalcy to help them navigate this difficult time.”

Their idea is to fill small backpacks or reusable bags with “essential items that can bring joy and warmth to these children as they face the aftermath of the hurricane...”
